Come riconoscere un present continuous?

Il Present Continuous si riconosce dalla struttura Soggetto + verbo to be (am/is/are) + verbo con -ing (es: I am working). Indica azioni in svolgimento ora, situazioni temporanee o piani futuri. Si accompagna spesso a espressioni temporali come now, at the moment o right now.
Come capire se è present continuous?
Il present continuous si usa:
per descrivere un'azione in corso mentre si sta parlando: You are using the Internet. You are studying English grammar. per descrivere un'azione che si svolge in questo periodo o una tendenza: Are you still working for the same company?
Qual è la regola del present continuous?
Il Present Continuous (o Present Progressive) in inglese si forma con il verbo "to be" (am/is/are) + il verbo principale con la desinenza -ing, e si usa per azioni che avvengono nel momento in cui si parla (es. I am reading a book), azioni temporanee o piani futuri. La forma negativa si ottiene aggiungendo "not" dopo il verbo "to be", mentre l'interrogativa si forma invertendo "to be" e il soggetto (es. Are you working?).
Come capire la differenza tra present simple e present continuous?
Si usa il Present Simple per abitudini, fatti generali e verità universali (es. I work every day). Si usa il Present Continuous (am/is/are + -ing) per azioni che avvengono ora, situazioni temporanee o piani futuri immediati (es. I am working now, They are meeting tomorrow).
Con quali verbi non si usa il present continuous?
Ci sono alcuni verbi che non usiamo mai al present continuous perché indicano stati e non prevedono quindi una forma progressiva. Si tratta dei verbi di preferenza e di stato, come know, have (per il possesso), like, love, prefer, hate, want, believe, own, cost.
